My Little Stars

Making a difference in the life of a child!

Here is a peek inside what our day looks like..

some days we need to shuffle things around or skip them altogether..

the children's needs and moods come first!

7:30 - 8:00: ARRIVAL & BUS PICKUP: Families arrive and are greeted by staff. Parents must sign their child in and out every day. Children should not be walking in with any food or drink. School aged children will walk up to the bus stop at 8:10 with Alan.

7:30 – 9:00: FREE PLAY: While we wait for everyone to arrive and start our day, the children are permitted to play with the toys in our free play area.

9:00 - 9:15: MORNING SNACK: We prefer breakfast to be served at home so that we can jump right into the fun stuff! However, some children do not eat well first thing in the morning, so we serve a morning snack (provided by parents) to everyone during our circle time activity.

9:00 - 9:30: CIRCLE TIME: We gather together as a group for learning activities. We practice our ABC’s and 123’s. We sing other songs that we are learning and talk about the days activities. This is also a good time for the kids to share things that they are excited about.

9:30-10:00: MUSIC & MOVEMENT: This is an inside or outside activity, weather permitting. We’re working on those gross motor skills and getting them moving! We sing songs with big movements like The Hokey Pokey, If You’re Happy and You Know It, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Etc. We play games like Simon Says or I Spy.

10:00 - 11:00: GROUP ACTIVITY: Every day we do a group activity of some kind. These activities may include but are not limited to arts and crafts; ELA, science or math activities; social development; games; stories; dramatic play; music and movement; and/or outside play.

11:00 - 11:30: FREE PLAY or OUTSIDE PLAY: If our group activity doesn’t overlap into this time slot then the kids get extra free play time. During the warmer days we use this time for extra outside playtime.

11:30 - 12:30: LUNCH IS SERVED! Lunch is provided by parents in lunch bags and ready to serve. This is a very social part of our day. We encourage table manners and social etiquette.

12:30 - 2:30: NAP TIME: Children sleep or rest on nap mats provided by their parents. Most of the children in our care nap for 1.5 – 2 hours. If they don’t sleep, that’s ok too. The quiet time is necessary for them to reset their bodies and prepare for the afternoon activities. **When we have infants in attendance, this is also when we do tummy time.

2:30 - 3:00: STORY TIME & A SNACK: After everyone is awake, which sometimes happens earlier or later than 3, we gather around the table for snack time. While the kids are eating their snack, we often read a story or play music.

3:00 - 4:00: TABLE ACTIVITIES: Puzzles, Blocks, Sensory Play, Magnetics, Etc. At this time of day we want to encourage calmer activities to help them settle and focus before heading home.

4:00-4:30: INDEPENDENT PLAY/CLEAN UP/DISMISSAL: Many of our kids go home around 4/4:30 and so we clean up and let the kids that are still here play with their choice of toys. Sometimes we continue our table activities or blocks and puzzles during this time.

SUMMERTIME: We continue to follow our routine, but our activities are much less structured and geared more for outside activities. Also, check out our summer calendar of events.
